58 Roadmaster

Postby Memphisvette » Sun Mar 23, 2008 9:46 pm

I collect cars of my youth and in memory of my dad, I want a 58 Roadmaster. I was wondering if any of you know of any loaded, really nice cars. I hope for a white with red interior 2 or 4 door (no convertibles) Have you ever seen one, even if not for sale? Do you know any 58 Buick experts who might know of one?

Thanks,

Roadmasters come up on eBay from time to time. Also check Hemmings Motor News.

According to my 1958 Trim Combination Chart, a red interior was not available in Roadmaster (or Super and Limited) two and four door cars, only in the convertible.

The Special and Century had a red and white or red and black two tone interior available for non-convertibles.

Thanks for the advice, Actually Dad had a 58 Century white w/red and black interior so I guess my ideal car would be a loaded Century w/air, but I didn't think they had loaded Centurys, so a roadmaster would be more likely. I have been looking for 5 years now.

Actually, you could order just about any option on any model in 1958. I've seen Centurys and Specials with all the same options as a Roadmaster, including air suspension, A/C, and Flight Pitch tranny; so don't give up on finding a Century with the options you want.

Well, Thanks to this forum, I got a 4dr loaded air Roadmaster! I need all the pot metal in the interior. It seems they pit alot on these cars. Does anyone recommend a pot metal chrome that does pits well? and is not too super high? or have good parts I can buy? need the eye brows too.

I still want to buy another 58 Roadmaster, so let me know if you know of one. Can you ever have too many 58 Roadmasters?

Cambridge Custom Chrome in Canada can do wonders with pitted potmetal. They have a U.S. address you can ship to in order to avoid international shipping rates.

Mine is dented but solid. I want it to look new. Perfer it not to look painted. I see there is a place in PA : Moyer Fuel tank Renu that looks interesting.
Is there new ones availible?

There is a place in Waller, Texas (by Houston) that does excellent work:

Well, 3 years of work and the 58 4door Roadmaster is coming along. I need a complete rear seat, ( I left mine at a trim shop to be done and the guy died and they threw mine away :( ) I need a little bitty control knob on my factory air dash vent. Can anybody help? Also, I just got my dash pads back from a place in Sweden and they are FABULOUS :D !! Much better than the US places. I highly recommend them. They were fast (7 weeks) and reasonablely priced $1150.

Glad the project is coming along, too bad they threw your seat away. Didn't the estate try to contact the clients?

Can you post the info about the dash place in Sweden? I haven't priced the dash restoration in 10 years. Just Dashes was charging $850 far the dashpads for an A/C car back then.
