Re: My new Roadmaster 4 Door

Congrats Adam.
I think that is terrific considering the short time you had to work on the car.

You should have no problem attaining Gold/Gold Senior in Springfield in 2015. I'm assuming you're not driving to Portland?

Re: New Coil over rear Shocks

Absolutely. As load leveling, they should handle the extra weight well!

New Coil over rear Shocks

I have heard such good reviews of the Monroe Load Leveling shocks from the '59 guys, that I bought a set for both the '58 and '59. I think the shocks on the '58 were last changed around 1972. They were completely shot.

I had put standard gas charged shocks on the rear of my '59 about 5 years ago ...

hooded mirrors on fenders

Does anyone have instructions or measurements for mounting the rear view mirrors on the fenders?

I have a pair of the hooded mirrors and need a little direction as to exactly where to mount them.

Thanks,

Re: Pitting on rear axle gears...bad idea to run it?

It should be fine.
I had a '65 wildcat rear end that had excessive pitting. The rear end was rebuilt and the gears polished, but it still produced a very loud whine at speed. Mechanic said it was just annoying, not dangerous or going to fail.

I ultimately swapped it out for a posi just to get rid ...

Re: oil pan

Thanks Adam.
Garage has been full with yard sale items for a few weeks, but as soon as I have access to flat ground again, I'm going to pull it and see how much sludge I have built up.

oil pan

Does the engine have to be lifted in order to remove the oil pan?

If so, which mounts need removed?

I am not relishing the knuckle busting of loosening the motor mounts again. :(

Re: Limited Four Door Side Trim

Would you happen to have a center top rear bumper piece? (The piece that the gas filler door goes in)
I need one for my super that is chromable with minimal work or usable as a driver.
Mine has lost all chrome and is has razor rash surface bubbling across the bottom edge. It's the only piece of ...

Re: Rear U-Joint & Torque ball stuff

The shop manual as usual, leaves a lot to be desired.

If you had been working in a Buick garage for years, then the information they leave out of the manual would be considered common sense.

Remember, these torque tubes had been around for many years. :)

Re: valve covers

I found it easiest to remove the carb and intake manifold, then I still had to loosen and pull the power steering pump out of the way.

Pain in the ass, if you ask me.....
