GM's 100th

Postby JeffKristy » Thu Jan 17, 2008 11:55 am

Just wanted to let everyone know about an up-coming event. As many of you already know, 2008 is GM's 100th Anniversary. According to the BCA, the annual meet will be held in Flint Michigan, the birthplace of GM. The event is July 16-20, 2008. I don't know how close to Flint any of you live, but it would be great if you could bring your '58s to this event. There is more information at http://www.buickclub.org/2008FLINT/index.htm. I don't know if any of you remember me, but I currently own a '58 Roadmaster that I am having a bunch of work done on. I hope to have most of the car restored so I can drive it to Flint. My Roadmaster was built in Flint and I'm hoping to take her home for her 50th.

Sounds like a great show - I'm a estimator at a bodyshop and I'm hoping to have my 58 back on the road by then. Please keep us updated of any developments. Thanks Chad Boyle - Indiana

I agree - I think this would be an awsome show but I live too far away to trust driving my Buick in its current condition.

Here is a little more information. There is a web site set up for the event. Not much on it yet. Doesn't seem like GM is all that enthusiastic about thier 100th. It does have a schedule of events and an entry form for cars. Its no cost, but they want to do a Parade of 100 years with at least 1 car for every year. So HotRod58er, you shouldn't have any problem with any of your cars.

Did anyone from here make it there? I think I only saw one 58 in the pictures from the event. I had to cancel at the last minute this year due to ...well....pretty much everything. Work, cars, money, house painting, etc...

I was able to make it to the parade, unfortunately I was unable to bring my car. I was supposed to be in the parade with my '58 Roadmaster but the starter died friday night. There were over 200 cars from all of GM's divisions there from almost every year. If you go to WJRT tv 12 (Flint's local ABC affiliate) you can search for and find several vidoes and slide shows of the event.
