Its been a while. Im doing a frame off on my 59 LeSabre and could use some input. I am putting a TH400 switch pitch in my 59 and was told that a flight pitch shifter column from a 58 or 59 would work but I would be without 1st gear which nobody uses anyways. My question is. Are the column shifters for the 58 and 59 flight pitch the same?

Re: flight pitch column shifter in 59?
Hey Hotrod58er
You may not have to go to all that trouble.....
by getting an after market linkage kit, you may be able to simply alter the arc of travel of the
shift lever on the side of the trans. I suspect you'd get it to shift into all the gears, but the indicator
on the existing column would not be lined up with the needle..no big deal ......
I just put a 455 and T400 in a 51 Chevy panel truck. Using an adjustable linkage kit like
from Lokar, etc.... I was able to get all the gears to work with the
no name aftermarket column I used.....
Hope this helps

Re: flight pitch column shifter in 59?
Think the 59 is different from 58 in the shift indicators, but most of the linkage should be the same.
Have you checked into using 60-72 Chevy Truck 2 link trailing arm suspension? Check hot rods to hell website for the parts.
