I am trying to remove the drivers side valve cover and the electrical connectors on the firewall makes this difficult if not impossible . How do I disconnect these connecters without damaging them? The top one will move but will not release.

I just looked in my shop manual and it doesn't say that the wiring has to be removed. I've never had to do this to my car, so I can't offer much help. Hopefully someone else will have experience with this and post.

Can you "roll" the valve cover one way or another to get it to slide under the wire harness connector?

Hi,
I see this post is a couple weeks old,but it is possible to play around and get the valve cover off without removing the electrical connectors. I had more of an issue with the power steering pump being in the way.

The connectors do come off by gently wiggling them. It's not easy though. A bit of WD-40 will help and won't hurt the wiring or plastic. Something like contact cleaner is hard on plastic.......Lee

I found it easiest to remove the carb and intake manifold, then I still had to loosen and pull the power steering pump out of the way.

Pain in the ass, if you ask me.....
