parts catalog

If it is 1958 Buick related and doesn't fall in the other categories or you can't figure out where to put it, put it here! All non-1958 Buick discussion should occur in The Lounge.

parts catalog

Hi all,
Does anyone know where I can get an illustrated parts catalog for the 58? I need it in particular to find out a part number of some trim clips I need - I asked for advice on this forum some months ago and had zero response. I bought a parts catalog on CD from ebay, it came today and I was really disappointed with it, it was advertised as a catalog for 1940-1972, it contained about 3500 pages, but almost nothing on 58s and earlier models. It was fantastic if you owned a mid-sixties onwards, but no good to me!!
regards
Kerry

I have the 1958 Chassis and Body Parts book that deals with 1958 only. They come up on ebay occasionally. If you can get one, it will be the best money you can spend on '58 Buick literature. I'll try to help if I can. What parts do you need info on?

Kerry, if you havent perused the CARS, Inc. website yet, it is an invaluable resource for many classic Buick parts that are difficult to find elsewhere:

http://www.oldbuickparts.com/

they have the 1958 Chassis and Body Parts Book here for $28.50. i would imagine they are reprints, but that shouldnt matter if you just need the info. i couldnt tell you the average selling price of a vintage original on eBay--i dont think ive ever seen one--however, as our omniscient administrator has aforementioned, im sure they do come along periodically. :D

I think I paid a total of $40 or $50 total, for my body and chassis manuals on ebay last year.

Thanks for the advice guys, I remember looking at Cars.inc's website a long time ago, I'd forgotten about it. I'll definitely get the parts catalog they have listed there as I have a 58 Roadmaster waiting to be restored, the catalog will be invaluable I guess, but in the meantime I'm looking for the correct clips which hold on the stainless trims which point forward from the rear bumper, towards the rear wheels. I've just had mine polished, on re-fitting them I noticed a mixture of clips, some good, some not so good, and the last thing I want is the trim pieces falling off!
Thanks again
