my 58 special is my first vehicle with a carburetor, so i certainly dont claim to be a carb expert. i recently rebuilt my Carter WGD 2bbl, and the engine does run on it, but the carb has a problem of flooding the engine while cranking. i watched the jets while cranking the engine, and they continued to leak fuel into the intake for a good 10 to 15 seconds after i stopped cranking the engine. fuel also leaked out of the hole in the side of the carburetor body, so the outside of the manifold got soaked as well.
my thoughts: is this problem caused by a blockage, too much fuel pressure, improper needle seating, or something else?
any input would be appreciated.
