does anyone use one of these (or another kind) of spin-on oil filter adapter? the apparent benefits are:
•modern filter technology
•anti-drainback valve
•replacement filters easier to find & install
•less messy

just curious if anyone has any input on these.

I will probably get one of these at some point in the future....when the car actually runs. I'm also interested in any feedback from folks who have installed one.

so, i finally bought a spin-on oil filter adapter on eBay, for fear that i might not be able to get ahold of one later. i have yet to install it, but initial impressions are good. all three parts are custom-machined from solid metal. the center tube and curved washer are ferrous metal (e.g., iron or steel) and the adapter plate is a hefty 5/8ths inch thick block of aluminum. the included instructions are very thorough and detailed. i will post further impressions of the installation and functionality once the unit is in place. until then, here is a picture of the adapter parts.
