Hi,
I'm still awaiting the arival of my 58 special from the USA, into Australia, so please excusue me asking such a dumb question! I was just wondering if you can tell me if 58's have a 12 or 6 volt electrical system. I assumed they would be 12, but I see a dude selling a 58 on ebay saying he has converted his car from a 6 volt generator, to a 12 volt altenator. I assume he just converted a genny to an alt on a 12 volt system?

not a dumb question at all. '58s have a 12 volt system. i saw the ebay auction you mentioned, and you are correct in assuming he meant to say that he has converted his generator to an alternator. here is a picture from his auction where you can see the alternator below the air conditioner compressor.
