1958 buick special
Re: 1958 buick special
Well i have gotten alot done to my special got all my missing pieces. Have come to the conclusion my motor is locked up. I have a 383 stroker which is a modified 350 sbc, i guess my question is will it bolt up to the nailhead motor mounts and buick transmission if not what mods will it take to achieve this and for the future when i get a chance to rebuild the nailhead how much will it cost and where can i get parts

Re: 1958 buick special
The Buick driveline is a closed driveshaft system. If you want to swap in the 383, you will need to replace the engine, trans, and rear end. All will need to have new mounts welded or bolted in place. And none of the power accessory brackets will interchange. I suggest finding someone within driving distance to look at rebuilding the Nailhead. I assembled mine myself once all of the machine work was done. I was still able to use the original pistons. I think I have $2k in my engine. It's been a couple years since I did it...
