1958 Buick Motor Home Conversion

Post by 58limited »

This is currently on ebay. I've heard that a few Cadillacs and Buicks were converted in the late 50's. Judging by the VIN, this is a Limited Chassis. If you look at 1958 production data, there were about 30 or so Limiteds listed as "chassis only" in the production numbers. I wonder if this is one of them?

this post is well over a year old, and the eBay page is expired. i feel that 1958 Buick motor home was bizarre enough to keep the topic open for posterity--therefore, here is a photo from the auction for any newcomers who may wonder what that 1958 Buick motor home looked like. i still have the rest of the photos as well, if anyone is interested.

i know, right? it seemed really well equipped, though. it had power brakes, power steering (w/ Air Ride compressor), the under-dash air conditioner unit, power windows, Wonderbar radio, Autotronic eye, padded & chrome dash panel... not to mention a sink, gas stove & mini fridge.

the dealer tag on the back was: Russ Buick, Fargo.

speaking of Buick Motor Home Conversions, here is another. ok, so this one isnt a '58, its a 1956 Century. this one apparently was originally a stock Century wagon that was modified later with a DIY conversion.
