my steering wheel has small cracks and crazing, like im sure many of you have seen in your restorations... does anyone know the best way to repair & restore the '58 Buick steering wheels? any products, tips, or techniques would be appreciated.

A friend of mine had his steering wheel professionally restored by

Gary's Steering Wheel Restoration

Also, mine was done by J.B. Donaldson by the previous owner. He should be on the internet and is listed in Hemmings Motor News.

I don't know the price, mine was already done when I bought the car, and my friend didn't tell me how much he paid, and I didn't ask.

I just looked on Gary's website and cost averages about $500.00. Be sure to send your shift and turn signal rods too - they can restore the bakelite ends to match the steering wheel or keep them black as original.

Here is the link to JB Donaldson, you have to call for prices:

When I received my friend's steering wheel the invoice was about $1100 - it needed to be completely recast. It looked great.
