Single Exhaust?

Hi all from Melbourne Australia. How common was a single exhaust system on the 58's. All of the phooto's I have collected and put on my screen saver, only show dual exhaust. When I took delivery of my Super I was surprised to find it had a single exhaust system. Was it only on some models or was it an extra?

It was standard on Roadmasters and Limiteds, optional on all other models if I recall correctly.

welcome to the forum!

58limited is correct. i pulled out the 1958 Buick Chassis Service manual and found this... Chapter 3-3, Section b, Paragraph 2 (p. 3-6) reads:

"A dual exhaust is standard equipment on Series 70-700 cars and is optional on all Series 40-50-60 cars. See figure 3-8. The right exhaust manifold is the same on either single or dual exhaust cars. The left exhaust manifold, the exhaust pipes, the mufflers, and the tail pipes are not interchangeable between single and dual exhaust cars."

so, yes, dual exhaust was optional on your Super. hope this helps! :)
