camshaft sprocket

Hello All:
I have just registered on our new site.
I posted this question on Yahoo yesterday morning and 24 hours later it is still not there!
So, I will ask again, I am installing a new camshaft sprocket on a 364.
The original has 2 "rivets" holding the fuel pump eccentric on.
The replacement sprocket has no holes to reuse these "rivets".
Is it OK to just use the bolt on end of camshaft to hold it on?

"I would never trust just the center bolt for such. The factory had very good reasons for using the other methods in addition. Just duplicate the original factory-type setup and you will be safe.

"I don't think the eccentric will stay put without at least one of the rivets or pins, it will slip and possibly loosen the cam bolt. You might have to have a machine shop drill the necessary holes for you, or call the cam manufacturer and verify that you have the correct cam and explain the problem to them to see what they recommend.


Another option is to leave out the eccentric and use an electric fuel pump.

It seems odd that a proper replacement would not be
cast or drilled with the necessary holes
